Objective of the program:
The objective of organizing the session on “Cryptographic Fingerprint Image Hashing over Advanced Integral Transforms in Biometric Authentication Systems” as part of the Research Week 2026 orientation programme on project selection was to introduce students to advanced security and mathematical concepts in biometric authentication. The programme aimed to enhance students' understanding of integral transforms, image hashing, and real-world problem-solving in cryptography, while also providing exposure to cutting-edge research methodologies. It also intended to bridge the gap between theoretical mathematics and its practical applications in data science, biometric security, and higher academic research.
Activity description :
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics organized an Orientation Programme on Project Selection as part of Research Week 2026 on 18th June 2026 at 12:30 PM through the AV Room. The session was conducted by Lakshmi Dathan on the topic “Cryptographic Fingerprint Image Hashing over Advanced Integral Transforms in Biometric Authentication Systems.”
The programme began with a welcome address and an introduction to the resource person. The speaker shared her research experience and explained the importance of selecting a suitable project topic for higher studies and research. She introduced students to the concepts of cryptographic fingerprinting, image hashing, advanced integral transforms, and their applications in biometric authentication systems.
The session provided students with an overview of how mathematical concepts are applied in modern security and authentication technologies.
