On 19th February 2026, the Department of Physics hosted a prestigious Expert Talk titled “100 Years of Quantum Mechanics” to commemorate a century of one of science's most revolutionary fields. The session featured Prof. V. P. N. Nampoori, a distinguished Visiting Professor from the International School of Photonics, CUSAT. Prof. Nampoori took the audience—comprising students, faculty, and research scholars—on a chronological journey through the development of quantum theory. Key focus areas included: • Historical Evolution: Tracing the transition from classical physics to the quantum breakthroughs of the early 20th century. • Fundamental Principles: An exploration of the core tenets that define the quantum world, presented in an accessible yet academically rigorous manner. • Transformative Impact: A look at how quantum mechanics serves as the bedrock for modern technologies, including lasers, semiconductors, and emerging quantum computing.
