The Department of Physics successfully organized its Annual Physics Symposium on 10–11 March 2026, creating an excellent platform for academic interaction and scientific exchange. The two-day event brought together eminent scientists, researchers, faculty members, and students to discuss emerging trends and recent advancements across diverse areas of Physics.

The symposium featured four expert sessions covering both fundamental and applied research areas. Dr. Mathew Arun Thomas (IISER Thiruvananthapuram) presented “Proton Decay: Probing the Limits of Matter,” highlighting its significance in testing Grand Unified Theories. Dr. Vivek M (Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru) delivered a talk on “Data-Powered Astronomy: Decoding the Cosmos,” focusing on the use of big data and machine learning in astrophysics. Dr. Noah Yasandoost (TRIUMF, Canada) discussed “Fundamental Physics with Ultracold Neutrons,” emphasizing precision studies in fundamental physics. Dr. Biju V (University of Kerala) spoke on “Carbon-Based High-Performance Supercapacitors,” highlighting sustainable energy storage technologies.

The symposium offered participants valuable insights into both theoretical and applied aspects of Physics, while the interactive sessions inspired students and researchers to pursue interdisciplinary scientific exploration.
