Activity Description: In commemoration of World Kidney Day, the NSI Kochi Chapter in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, organized a session titled “Translating Renal Nutrition Science into Practice: MNT for CKD.” The session was delivered by Dr. Jyothi S Krishnan, Chief Dietitian, Believer’s Church Hospital, Thiruvalla, who served as the resource person for the programme. The talk focused on translating evidence-based renal nutrition science into practical Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) strategies for managing Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). The session emphasized individualized dietary planning, nutrient modifications, fluid and electrolyte balance, and the critical role of dietitians in improving patient outcomes in renal care.

In addition, a special session titled “Good Health Begins from Your Gut” was conducted by Ms. Renu Rahel from the Science Department of Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. The session highlighted the importance of gut health, the role of probiotics, and the connection between gut microbiota and overall well-being. Participants gained valuable insights into maintaining digestive health and its impact on immunity and chronic disease prevention.
